Blocked Sinks or Toilets
A blocked sink or toilet is an unpleasant surprise that can pose a wide range of issues. Water resurgence can cause waste water to accumulate in the affected toilet or sink as well as risks of overflowing and causing water damage. Odours can start to permeate through your property if a blockage is not rectified quickly and it can be difficult to detect a blockage until the issue has become very serious. Blockage is caused by debris blocking the pipe system within your sink or toilet such as grease, paper or small objects among other things. There are also health risks associated with blockage so it’s very important to contact an emergency plumber if you are suffering from the inconvenience of a blockage.
Should your sink or toilet become blocked then it’s highly recommended to telephone our team, as this issue could become much more serious if left unattended to.
Burst Pipes or Piping
Burst pipes are a severe emergency that risks causing extensive amounts of damage to your property if it is not dealt with quickly and effectively. One of the most common causes of bursting is due to freezing conditions but other causes include the piping being old, accidental damage or misuse of the pipe system. Should a pipe burst in the main system, this can cause extensive and dramatic damage to your property. A burst pipe in the main system also can cause disruption for entire streets, causing lack of water for days. Some ways to keep your pipe system from bursting is to:
- Know the location of your stop cock and how to operate it.
- Insulate outdoor pipes and taps, especially in Winter.
- Ensure that underground piping is buried deep enough.
- Insulate your cold water tank.
- Leave heating on at 12 degrees at all times throughout extremely cold conditions.
- Fix dripping taps before a cold period.
- Service your central heating system regularly.
- If you leave your property empty, turn off the stopcock (drain water from the system closing your taps afterwards) and leave the heating on. A burst pipe when you are not in the property can cause thousands of litres of water to flood your home before you even realise.

Water Leaks & Leaking Taps
Similarly to burst pipes, water leaks can cause extensive damage to your property over time. Leaks can also cause moisture to build up within walls which can pose threats such as mildew, mould and damp. A more serious leak may be easier to detect but even leaking faucets and taps can cause extensive damage if they are not rectified quickly and effectively. Due to the financial cost that leaks cause as well as the health risks that are associated with leaking, it’s simply not worth the risk to leave even smaller leaks without repair. Contacting our emergency plumbers ensures that we can find the source of the leak and find a solution.
